“Indiana’s Hometown Mortgage Lender”
Built on Family, Community, and Service
The heartbeat of Bailey & Wood Financial Group is right where
it started, in Whiteland, Indiana. Founder D. Mike Wood, a
Whiteland High School graduate and lifelong Johnson County
resident, built the company from the ground up in 2007
after gaining years of experience in both the frontlines and
operations sides of the mortgage industry.
What began as a personal mission to create a more clientfocused and community-rooted mortgage experience has
grown into one of the top 100 mortgage lenders in the nation,
with over 20 locations across Indiana, as well as branches in
Michigan and Florida. But the company’s soul remains right at
home, where it all started.
“The name ‘Bailey & Wood’ came from my daughter and
me—it’s our bond,” Wood said. “I wanted people to think of
our company as family, as part of the community. We built a
business that always puts people 昀椀rst.”
Bailey & Wood has earned its stellar reputation through
grassroots involvement and a culture that prioritizes
relationships, not just transactions. The company supports local
schools, police and 昀椀re departments, youth sports leagues, and
nonpro昀椀t organizations.
From sponsoring drone shows at Greenwood’s Freedom
Festival to hosting the annual Boo Bash and raising millions
through charity golf outings, Bailey & Wood is deeply
embedded in the local fabric.

ASPIRE JOHNSON COUNTY, IN | 2025-26 BUSINESS GUIDE
One of the company’s proudest contributions is the recent
$1.2 million commitment to Clark Pleasant School Corporation,
resulting in the renaming of Whiteland High School’s football
stadium to Bailey & Wood Stadium.
The impact doesn’t stop at sponsorships.
“We’re honored to have given back over $2 million to local
schools,” Wood shared. “We host events for our community
heroes—Veterans, Police, Fire昀椀ghters, and Nurses—and make
sure they feel seen and supported.”
Wood attributes much of the company’s success
to Johnson County itself. “It’s the people,” he
said. “The business environment here is special.
Neighbors support each other. There’s a real
spirit of collaboration among local leaders and
business owners.”
Looking ahead, Bailey & Wood is expanding into insurance
services to further support its clients, but the focus remains the
same: people over pro昀椀t.
“If the community sees our name and says, ‘Those are good
people who care,’ then we’ve done our job,” Wood said.
“Everything else falls into place after that.”
